Integrations

Your knowledge is scattered across 6 different tools. InternalWiki reads all of them.

Connect Google Drive, Slack, and Microsoft 365. InternalWiki indexes your documents, messages, and files — then keeps the index current as things change. No migration. No exports. No maintenance.

Google Drive

Google Drive

Available

Syncs documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and PDFs — including shared drives and files shared with you individually.

Permissions are inherited from Drive. If a folder is restricted to the finance team, only finance team members will see content from it in their answers. When sharing changes in Drive, InternalWiki reflects it within minutes. InternalWiki reads the content of every file type: Google Docs, Sheets (including individual cells and formulas), Slides, and uploaded PDFs (with OCR for scanned documents).

Slack

Slack

Available

Indexes messages, threads, and shared files from public and private channels. Private channel access follows channel membership.

Thread context is preserved, so answers reference the full conversation, not isolated messages. Particularly useful for finding decisions buried in long threads: 'What did engineering decide about the API versioning approach?' gets answered even if the decision was 47 messages deep.

Microsoft 365

Available

Connects to SharePoint sites, OneDrive files, and Teams messages. Site-level and item-level permissions are enforced.

Supports both modern and classic SharePoint sites. OneDrive personal folders require explicit user consent. Teams messages work like Slack — channel membership determines access, and thread context is preserved.

How permissions work for each source

Every integration inherits its permission model from the source system. InternalWiki never manages access — it reflects it.

Google Drive

Google Drive

Permission model

Folder and file ACLs

Granularity

Per-document

How it works

InternalWiki reads the sharing settings of every file and folder. Owner, editor, viewer, and commenter roles are all treated as 'read' access. If a folder is restricted, everything inside it is restricted.

Slack

Slack

Permission model

Channel membership

Granularity

Per-channel

How it works

Public channel content is available to all workspace members. Private channel content is only available to members of that channel. DMs are never indexed.

Microsoft 365

Permission model

SharePoint site permissions + item-level

Granularity

Per-site and per-document

How it works

SharePoint site membership and item-level permissions are both respected. If a document has unique permissions that differ from its parent site, the document-level permissions take precedence.
